From The CommissionerSeptember 2007Dear Friends of Paso Robles Region 741 AYSO Soccer, The 2007 season of AYSO Soccer is upon us. I can't wait to see the players practicing and playing matches. Soccer provides a great opportunity to get kids out of the house, running, competing and being part of a team. How blessed we are that so many coaches, referees and other volunteers are willing to donate their time and efforts to make each AYSO season happen. Like last season, we will use our end-of-the season Paso Cup Tournament to determine which U10, U12 & U14 teams will advance to the Area Playoffs to play against teams from other AYSO Regions such as San Luis Obispo and Lompoc. In order for a team to qualify for the Paso Cup Tournament, the team must earn 14 referee points during the season. We need parents to referee games to earn those points. If you have any questions, please discuss this with your coach. This season we will have just over 1,100 players in our AYSO region. Making the season happen takes a large amount of work. I want thank all of the AYSO Board Members for their efforts in making this soccer season come to fruition. Here is a list of our Board Members. Division Coordinators: U6G - Lori & Gregg Chamberlain, U6B - Stacia Finley, U7G&B - Chris Cline, U8G&B - Breta Yarborough, U10G - Allison Kimpton, U10B - William Paris, U12G - Steve Pugh, U12B - Guillermo Cortes, U14G - Angela Pasky, U14B - Annetta Albers, U16/19 B&G - Michelle Paasch & Shari Frace. Steve Mihelic is Director of Fields and Safety Director, James Henry is Director of Fundraising & Sponsors, Tina Viramontes handles the Newsletters, Syl Arena is Purchasing Coordinator, Quincy Albers is Asst. Ref Administrator and Scheduler, William Paris is Game Scheduler, Carolyn McNairn is Team Parent & Photo Day Coordinator, Caryn Jackson is Webmaster. Chris Cline is Assistant Commissioner and in charge of the Paso Cup Tournament, Jeff Paul is Coach Administrator, Lisa Pugh is our Child Volunteer Protection Advocate, Keith Aikenhead is Director of Boys, Sergio Viramontes is Director of Girls, Richard Carlos is Referee Administrator, Nancy Norton and Julie Aikenhead are Registrars, Michelle Orradre is Secretary and Dave McCue is Treasurer. Here is a reminder of the AYSO Primary Philosophies: Balanced Teams, Everyone Plays, Open Registration, Positive Coaching and Good Sportsmanship. In closing I want to remind you all that soccer is just a game. Please do not embarrass yourselves or your children by taking it too seriously and yelling at the referees. The games will not go on without referees, so please be courteous to them. Also, I encourage you to thank them after the games for their hard work. Have a great season and see you on the pitch,
Richard Scholl
